About Fat Otter Adventure Sports
Fat Otter Adventure Sports was founded in 2003 by Rod McLennan after getting his feet wet with some Adventure Racing events in the Chicago area. His entrepenureal spirit drove the companies expansion
to it's incorporation in 2008 after 5 years of racing under Team Fat Otter and directing various events in the Midwest. Now armed with an abitious vision and experienced guides, Fat Otter Adventure Sports
will continue to expand it's offerings for years to come.
Environmental Impact
In a day where global warming has become a serious problem, Fat Otter Adventure Sports is committed to making a minimal mark on the environment. We are making every effort to make our trips carbon neutral
by purchasing Green Tags to offset any carbon produced by the trip itself as well as the travel by all participants. Green Tags allow investment into alternative energy such as solar and wind power, and promote
eco-awareness amonst our participants. Our guides will educate participants on leave no trace practices and encourage everyone to leave the trip with a philosophy that will carry over to their everyday lives.
Giving Back
Our guides and team are proud to give back to the community through various activities such as our annual 'Clean the Lagoons' event and volunteering at trail rehab days. Fat Otter is also involved with the
non profit Chicago Area Adventure Racing Association to help educate people and provide a resource for the Chicago Adventure Racing Community. Each of our Adventure Travel trips will incorporate some sort of
community service to the local community whether it be making an appearance at a local school, or helping out in an impoverished area.
