Fat Otter Events

The SPOLKA is an annual adventure race that takes place alongside the Polka on the Riverway festival in the Sauk Prairie area. The event is set to show off the area's natural beauty along the Wisconsin River and surrounding bluffs while defining what Southern Wisconsin offers for hospitality. A huge block party to welcome racers in, their long day of paddling, cycling and trail running/orienteering will be rewarded with a cold beer and food from some of the community's most famous restaurants.

The Sweaty Otter is an 8 or 24HR Adventure Race that takes place in and around the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Northern Unit. Racers will be challenged with mountain biking, road biking, navigation, paddling, and special tasks.

Set in the middle of the summer, participants will have to battle the heat along with a course suitable for beginners and seasoned adventure racers alike.

As always, stick around and enjoy food and drink with fellow racers while exchanging stories of your well earned finish.

This is the perfect chance to get one last race in before the end of the season. Come out and run/hike, bike, paddle, and more for a fun packed day of adventure! Think you have what it takes?

This event is heavily geared for first-time and beginner racers.  Most years, there is a FREE clinic held prior to the event to help those who might not be comfortable with navigation or any other aspect of the race.

From time to time, Fat Otter Adventure Sports will offer special outings. These can be anything from a weekend camping trip to a training seminar. As always, we do our best to keep the cost down and will typically offer these events for free to our prior participants and for little cost to the public.

These events are usually announced with little notice, so be sure to check back often.

Prepare yourself for one of the most grueling foot races on the planet! While most ultra events take place in the 'comfort' of spring, summer, and fall, the Frozen Otter is held on what is historically the coldest day of the year. Those who are brave enough to try, attempt a 64 mile single track hike on the Ice Age Trail in the Kettle Moraine State Forest Northern Unit. No snow shoes, no skis, no support crew, no staging, just you and your feet.
